Dylan Farrow, Woody Allen’s adopted daughter, called out Justin Timberlake for working with Allen while publicly expressing support for victims of sexual misconduct in Hollywood.
Farrow has recently criticized multiple actors who have supported the anti-harassment Time’s Up initiative (and the #MeToo movement), while continuing to work with Allen long after Farrow’s claim that he sexually assaulted her when she was seven.
In a statement to BuzzFeed News, Farrow specifically mentioned Timberlake, who starred in Allen’s most recent film, “Wonder Wheel”, opposite Kate Winslet.
“I struggle with how a powerful force like Justin Timberlake can claim to be in awe of the strength of women and stand with them at this #MeToo moment and then in the next breath say that working with Woody Allen is a ‘dream come true'”, Farrow told BuzzFeed News. (Timberlake said the “dream come true” quote on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” while promoting the movie.)
imberlake’s signature is one of many on the Time’s Up letter, which expressed support for the legal defense fund for Hollywood sexual misconduct victims. The signatures included other recent Allen collaborators like Emma Stone and Blake Lively. In December, Farrow criticized Kate Winslet and Blake Lively for their work with Allen in an LA Times op-ed. In the op-ed, Farrow also lamented that, in the wake of the accusations and downfall of men like Harvey Weinstein, Allen remained a powerhouse in Hollywood that many actors still want to work with.
When the Time’s Up letter was published on January 1, Timberlake wrote in a tweet: “No more accepting sexual harassment and inequality at work as normal. It’s NOT normal. #TIMESUP”
