A $13 million legal defense fund set up by more than 300 women who work in film, television and theater to combat sexual harassment and assault in low-wage workplaces has earned the support of a number of high-profile celebrities, including Justin Timberlake and Christina Perri.
The initiative, spearheaded by a group of actresses including America Ferrera, Ashley Judd, Natalie Portman, Rashinda Jones, Eva Longoria and Reese Witherspoon and producer Shonda Rhimes, was launched on New Year’s Day (Jan. 1) with a “Dear Sisters” letter that stated the group’s goal of addressing “the systemic inequality and justice in the workplace that have kept underrepresented groups from reaching their full potential”.
No more accepting sexual harassment and inequality at work as normal. It's NOT normal. #TIMESUP https://t.co/BkTs0yRxaQ pic.twitter.com/8gp0ojb5FW
