How exactly did Timberlake and Grohl cross paths? The pair often hung out between takes at EastWest Studios in Los Angeles. “We’d drink whiskey in the parking lot”, Grohl explained during an interview with Rolling Stone. “He was really, really cool. Then the night before his last day, he says, ‘Can I sing on your record? I don’t want to push it, but — I just want to be able to tell my friends'”.
Grohl previously teased contributions to the album from the “biggest pop star in the world” during an interview with BBC Radio 1 back in June. Timberlake is hardly the biggest name on the album, however, with Sir Paul McCartney, Boyz II Men’s Shawn Stockman and Alison Mossheart of the Kills joining in on the party.
