Will Smith Teases Justin Timberlake About What to Avoid During Super Bowl LII Halftime Show

Justin Timberlake had no idea what he was getting himself into when he welcomed Will Smith to Instagram last week. The “SexyBack” singer rolled out the social media red carpet for the Bright star after he joined the mobile photo sharing site for the first time last Thursday (Dec. 14).

“Welcome to Instagram @willsmith”, Timberlake captioned the photo of him and the Aladdin actor at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards. “This is called a #TBT”, he joked before going on to explain the background behind a Throwback Thursday post.

Smith then jokingly played along with Timberlake in his own Instagram post where he shot a video of himself thanking Timberlake for the “brief education about Instagram” before continuing “but man, I know what Throwback Thursday is, I ain’t been in a hole”.

Smith then changed the subject to Timberlake’s upcoming Super Bowl Halftime Show performance and gave the singer some advice of his own. “Just the things to avoid at the Super Bowl”, he said before playfully lifting up his shirt to reveal a close-up of his nipple. “Just avoid that”, he laughs. “Avoid that”.

Smith was, of course, referring to the infamous Super Bowl XXXVIII performance in 2004 where Timberlake ripped off a piece of Janet Jackson’s top, revealing her right breast on national television during their joint performance. The incident was the subject of great controversy and infamously went on to become known as “Nipplegate”.

Smith then signed off from his video proving that his comments to Timberlake were all in good fun, telling his pal that he was joking and that he loved him. Timberlake will headline the Super Bowl LII Halftime Show next year at the U.S Bank Stadium in Minneapolis on Feb. 4.
