Justin Timberlake channelled Fifty Shades of Grey for Trolls sequel soundtrack
It’s an unconventional source of inspiration for a children’s film… but Justin Timberlake channelled Fifty Shades of Grey while writing the soundtrack for the upcoming Trolls sequel. The singer has co-written a ballad inspired by the underlying sexual chemistry between his troll character, Branch, and Anna Kendrick’s Poppy in upcoming kids’ film Trolls World Tour.
“There is definitely something for the adults”, he laughs. “Let’s just say the tension between Poppy and Branch is very sexual. The trolls were on tour, you know what I mean?”. Justin’s troll, Branch, is grey in the first film when he is unhappy.
But his friendship with Poppy adds colour to his life and turns him bright blue. “I have possibly gone grey again”, Justin hints of Branch’s upcoming love song. “Maybe Fifty Shades of it”, he adds.
